Trip to College

Timeline

1
Have your student explore career interests and possible careers; find out what kind of education is required. Click here for a fun, interactive student activity that can help.
2
Help your student draw the connections between school work today and his/her future. Students often don’t see how their habits and performance in school will affect their futures. Help them make these connections so that school work becomes more relevant.
3
Indiana students who qualify for the Twenty-first Century Scholars program should sign up by June 30. This is the first of two years of eligibility (7th and 8th grade), but you should apply to the program as early as possible if eligible. Click here for more information on the Twenty-first Century Scholars Program.
4
Start/continue your college savings efforts. Parents often wait until their children are in high school to begin thinking about college. Particularly where college savings are concerned, families should start to save much earlier, whenever possible. Click here for more information on savings. Click here for more information on how savings can affect financial aid.
