Pay close attention to the course options available in high school and choose wisely. When your student chooses 9th grade courses this year, make sure s/he gets started on a track that will prepare him/her for college, paying attention to the different diploma tracks available (CORE 40, CORE 40 Academic Honors, CORE 40 Technical Honors). Attend the 8th Grade Orientation Meeting for high school at your child’s school if one is offered.

If you haven’t already, start to put some money away for college. Saving even a little bit can add up over time. Every family will have to contribute something toward the cost of college. Indiana students who qualify for the Twenty-first Century Scholars program should sign up by June 30 (if they have not done so already).
